Statistics revealed by Cloudflare in online blogging. The popular app has consistently been ranked as the highest in internet traffic since the beginning of August 2021. Last year, 2020 - Google was ranked high and TikTok was ranked 8th with a Cloudflare report.
Owned by a Chinese company, formerly known as ByteDance, Tiktok was launched worldwide in 2018. It joined hands with another popular app Musical.ly the promoters started using after using Vine, a popular app that allowed users to post short (7-second videos).
Tiktok gained great popularity after joining Musical.ly. During COVID-19, the popularity of the app grew significantly as people filled the app to make their own short videos with background music. According to Statistica, the use of Tiktok has grown to 180% between the ages of 15-25. The application was downloaded 315 million times over the same period.
This year, in July, Sensor Tower data reported that TikTok was downloaded more than 3 billion times, an action that only the Facebook app could have achieved before.
